favorite charachter

I honostly despised this book. It was pain reading it. So because of this it is difficult for me to choose someone that I liked the best, because I honostly didnt like anyone. Every charachter had good and bad things to them I thought. But since I have to to write this blog my favorite person would be George. I really liked how he kept his promise to Aunt Clara to take care of Lennie. Without George Lennie would have definetly been in prision by now. Im sure it would be hard to take care of Lennie without ever getting frustruated. But while George was doing this, he was also making money and having Lennie make money so they could both actually eat. In the beginning I didnt like George, I thought he was just a mean person. But as the book went on I learned to like him more. I thought it was brilliant that he kept telling Lennie the farm story. I thought it was cool that he was keeping Lennies dream alive. Not just crushing it like im sure some people would do. Even though he had to kill Lennie, I felt like it was the option he had. And im sure that it was painful for George too. That really showed how smart George was, because if Lennie would have been alive they both would have ended up somewhere bad. I guess I liked George the best because he knew how to survive in the world, and he was smart about it.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia - the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. The practice is illegal in most countries. I personally dont think that this practice should be illegal, but of course it would have to be used correctly. Say there was someone who was a vegetable and had no chance of surviving, but the family doesnt want to believe it, it should be the doctors choice to pull the plug or not, especially since its taking up room in a hospital and jsut running up more bills for the patient's family. Also if someone had cancer or was dieing of aids, or something that was causing pain and the patient was wishing they would jsut die already, I think with their agreement that the doctor should be able to peform euthanasia. If I was dieing, or almost dead I would want this to be performed on me. Its allowed on animals, why not us. Where you live shouldnt have to affect the way you would want to die. I understand that some family members dont want to pull the plug, but its sort of annoying because they arent the ones who are in pain. I think that it should be up to the patient/doctor, and the family should ahve nothing to do with it.

why do dreams fail

Dreams fail because they aren’t reality. Most of the times in life things don’t work out the way there supposed too. Its rare that someone actually achieves all there dreams though. I find it annoying because kids are taught to always chase what they believe in. But in the end it never really happens that way. In the book for example, since it’s a tragedy we know that Lennie and George aren’t going to be able to buy their farm. In Romeo and Juliet their dream of being together without being in secret obviously didn’t happen. Those are just two books. But basically in every book there is something that someone wants never happens. That because that’s the way life is. Even im starting to learn that things don’t work out the way the are supposed to ! And it really does suck. But hteres nothing you can do about it. Its always a healthy and good thing to have dreams on what you want in life, but you gotta learn early that its most likely not gonna happen.

What is a friend ?

A friend is someone that you can rely on. That you can have fun with. Someone that will be there for you. A true friend wont go tell your secrets either, and theyll be there for you to talk to you when you are upset. Also its someone that you want to spend time with. What else are you supposed to do on weekends? I dont even know how you could live without any friends. Im pretty sure you would go insane if you never had anyone to talk to. Its also healthy to let out your problens to someone. But you just have to make sure that its someone you can trust. A true friend likes you for who you are, not what you have. I personally have been in relationships where it was a true one. And it reallly does get to you. The definition of a friend - a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations. I also feel like many relationships are sterotypical. Its good to have friends of opposite genders. But a lot of people need to learn that just because there friends, doesnt mean they're more than friends. I find it annoying that a lot of the community sterotypes that. I think that wihtouht friends this world would be crazy.

Anticipation/Reaction Blog

" In todays world , men treat women more as equals than objects " This is one statmenet I do not agree with at all. If you would have asked me this before Janurary then I might would of had to agree with it, but now since my J-term I truely believe that that is a false statement. In this age men dominate women. To some men, women are nothing but objects, who get beat around, verbally or physcially, or even sexually assaulted. You dont hear about a woman putting rufies in some guys drink. You also dont hear about a woman raping a guy. Actually 99 % of rapers behind bars are men. Also woman are sexualized with everything. Ads, movies, books, basically everything. Also say a girl had sex with a boy, a girl would be called a whore, or a slut, but a man would be praised by his buds. I remember this one story we read about how a girl got raped by a whole footbal team, and a baseball bat was shoved up her in front of all these guys. Its because of stories like that that i feel like men and women still are not equal today. Sure a woman president ran for president but did she win ? Nope. Its always been like this, men over women, I personally dont think that it will change anytime soon.

ROMAYO AND JULIET REFLECTION

1. “Love and insight is better than love at first sight.” Do you agree or disagree? Why?
I totally agree with this quote. How can you love someone if you dont even know who they are? You automaticallly think your love with them at first sight, meaning that its basically a physical connection, and thats not what love is all about. Insight, meaning you acutally know who your loved one is, and you guys are practically best friends. To me thats love and i just dont know how a relationship could even work out if you didnt know them, meaning insight is way better than love at first sight.

2.Was it right for Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves because of their love for each other? Why or why not
I think that both of them killing themselves was the dumbest thing I ever read. They barely even knew eachtoher, and they were head over heels for each other. they got married the day after they met. Thats just crazy. And then when romeo gets banished they both think that its the end of the world, and they dont know what to do. I didnt mind it so much that Juliet poisoned herself, because she was jsut doing it so her life wouldnt get messed up. But romeo blew eveything out of proportion when he decided to kill himself when he thought that Juliet was dead. They both comitted suicide, because they just wanted to be toghether. I wouldn't even do that. I would live my life first.

3.Would you have lied to your whole family if you were in Juliet’s position? Why or why not?
If I was Juliet I wouldnt have lied. Honostly if my family cant like accept me or who I supposedly love i would just leave. Its there problem not mine. So i think that even though Romeo was a Montague, if Juliet just would have told her parents than maybe they wouldnt have forced her to marry Paris, which then resulted in the death of everyone.

4.Why does Juliet kill herself when she could be free?
I dont know why Juliet did this, she is so stupid. Like who doesnt think to just run off with Romeo ? He's already banished, and if she went with him they would both avoid the wrath of there families. Also she would have been able to avoid marrying Paris. Romeo and Juliet could have lived there lives happily, no disturbances, had SEXY KIDS :) but no Juliets a dumb ass and tried to solve evrything by pretending to kill herself.

5. How would you feel if you were one of the parents in one of these families after all this happened
If i was the parent of romeo or Juliet. I would feel so horrible. I would definetly end the feud, then. I mean they both just lost there kid because they were afraid to tell there parents that they were in love. Basically its the parents fault because the kids knew if they told they're parents theywouldnt accept there marriage, and then htey wouldnt know what to do with themselves. if this happened I peersonally would feel like it was my fault that my kids decided to do this. But that wont happen, because if one of my kids is happy, Im gooing to be happy. ! :)

Romeo and Juliet : Act 1

Honostly I didnt expect act 1 to be the way it was. I never had any idea that Romeo and Juliet werent in love till almost the end of the scene! It made me mad that Romeo was in love with Roseline! I guess I was just mad because it wasn't supposed to be that way. First of all i did not expect Juliet to be 13, to me thats just wrong. I also dont enjoy how depressed Romeo is. when you think of a love story, you dont think that the main charachter is depressed. Also i dont think that you fall in love at first sight. I found it odd that the moment they saw each other they fell in love. And that night they even kissed. Now a days a girl would be called a slut if she hooked up with some guy she barely even knew! I wish act 1 would explain more about there relationship besides just a physical attraction. Overall i also found it hard to understand the language. I hate it! I dont know how people could ever understand it! What helps me is the side notes and the conclusions! Also just to put it out there - Shakespere is totally not funny with all his puns.. He thinks he is and even when Mrs. Pfan explains what he means, I still find him totally not funny.Anwayss, i cant wait to finish the book so we can watch the movie. :)
